My extensive travels are the inspiration for these pieces. Or more specifically, my memories of my travels. Capturing the essence of a place or experience is vital in these paintings. I have never liked painting en plein air and prefer to experience a place or moment to its fullest without the tunnel-vision that art creation inevitably produces in me. I enjoy the scents, sights and sensations enveloping me and my memory marinating in them… returning to my studio and creating from those distilled memories offers even more fulfillment. What is it about a place or experience that causes us to remember it?
