Kauai artist Donia Lilly’s abstract pastel painting “Blue Violet II” (from her Evocations series) won Honorable Mention in the Pastel Artists of Hawaii 2012 Annual Juried Show. The show took place in Honolulu on Oahu, so unfortunately Donia was unable to attend the Awards Ceremony or the exhibition itself.
The juror was award winning artist, Terri Ford, PSA.
Terri’s paintings have gained national and international recognition. Her painting “Country Calm” was awarded the Grand Prize in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 competition. Her work has also been published in The Artist’s Magazine, Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector and others. She most recently became the first person honored with the title of Eminent Pastelist by the International Association of Pastel Societies. She has been awarded Distinguished Pastelist status by the Pastel Society of the West Coast and the Pastel Society of New Mexico, and is also a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America. ¡Gracias Susanna! …Espero que todo esta bien en Raro 🙂
WOW, Donia! Blue Violet II is awesome as is all your pastels. I have never seen any work such as yours where I just get lost in them. Having lived on Kauai many years ago and returning, not often enough, I can feel where you work is coming from. This summer I hope to see some in person.
Thank you Sandy for your kind words about my art. Please do get in touch and let me know when you will be on Kauai… I would love to show you my paintings in person!
