Visit the studios of 39 Kauai artists and artisans working in various mediums – textiles, ceramics, painting, wood, jewelry, and more – two weekends in April on a free, self-driving tour. Come talk story with the artists, see demonstrations on how they create, and buy local art. A month-long Preview Exhibit with examples of each participating artist’s work will be at Kauai Society of Artists Gallery in Kukui Grove Shopping Center as well, with an Opening Reception on April 9th. Free Guidebooks with artist info and maps will be available around the island and online at KauaiArtTour.com
The third and fourth weekends in April will feature artists’ studios from Waimea all the way to Hanalei. Weekend 1 – Lihue to Waimea: see handwoven textiles and quilts created, fine jewelry and wood furniture crafted, and all types of painting and photographic processes. Weekend 2 – Wailua to Hanalei: witness the secrets of glass art and jewelry creation, wheel-thrown ceramics, surfboard painting, carving, and even more painting and photographic formats. All artists will have works large and small for sale directly from their studios.
Kauai Art Tour is sponsored in part by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, Kauai Society of Artists, and the Hanapepe Economic Alliance.
Donia will be participating in: Weekend 2 – Wailua to Hanalei
Saturday & Sunday, April 25th & 26th
Visit artists’ studios from 11am to 6pm. This is a free event and all are welcome. Information on participating artists and maps with directions to their studios can be found in a free printed Guidebook around the island (locations listed on our website) as well as online and our Google Maps link if you want to use GPS or your smartphone to take the Tour. On the North Shore of Kauai this July? Stop in the Iti Wine Bar at the Tahiti Nui in Hanalei (yes, the one from the movie “The Descendents” with George Clooney 🙂 ) and check out a small exhibition of some of my originals and metal prints.
Call the Nui for hours.
