Evocations Gallery

My Evocations series almost never starts with a preconceived image or plan in mind – other than perhaps a color family – so I’m not working toward a definitive product. My process in my non-objective work is completely intuitive, but it’s not just throwing paint around and calling it “done” either. I will come back to paintings for years – some I’ve been working on periodically for almost 15 years – until they feel complete, or at least complete enough for me to “release them into the wild,” so to speak… My work may not seem so time-intensive to some people, especially given the generally “enigmatic” nature of abstract art, but they are much more than an investment of time, skill, and analytical thought – they are a microcosm of myself and ideally, simultaneously a universal one that resonates in the viewer.
